Can you wear sunglasses in formation?

Quick Answer

No. Sunglasses are not authorized in formation unless prescribed by a medical provider.

Per AR 670-1, para 3-2, conservative sunglasses are authorized in garrison environments but are explicitly not authorized in formation or indoors.

The only exception is if sunglasses are prescribed by a medical provider for a specific condition.

Soldiers may also not wear sunglasses in the field except when required for medical reasons.
