AR 670-1: 20-28. Socks
Quick Answer
Cushion sole socks in tan, green, or black are worn with combat or organizational boots and may be used in a two-sock system with liner socks. Black dress socks (also used as boot liners) are calf-length and worn with service, dress, and mess uniforms. White socks are not authorized with any uniform except for the Army Physical Fitness Uniform.
